just in from Maureen:
In Haint Misbehavin’, Book One of the Ghost Handler series, hypersensitive suburban Atlanta teen Heather Tildy acquires the ability to interact with ghosts in her fourteenth summer when her long-awaited period arrives. Her plans for the next two months had been simple—convince pain-in-the-butt older sister of her worthiness and gain the attention of hot lifeguard Drew Blanton. All Heather’s haint friend Amy wants is to have some fun at Heather’s expense. But as a teenager with a deep voice, still living down her pre-school Princess and the Pea nickname, Heather doesn’t need the additional ridicule that comes with the ghost. She’s determined to find the true reason behind Amy’s haunting, reverse the embarrassing impression of her Drew has acquired, thanks to Amy, and rid herself of the ghost before next month’s Jekyll Island vacation. Getting punked in front of family and friends isn’t on Heather’s To Do List. Bell Bridge available June 2010 (tentative date)

Maureen Byrnes Hardegree is a first cousin and first rate writer. She has won several awards, including the Maggie and the Suzannah and she was a 2003 Golden Heart finalist. Maureen has at least four published stories and writes for various blogs and websites. From Maureen's website: 'Maureen appeared at two Gwinnett County Georgia schools this past spring. She and her critique partners spoke about writing with Five Forks Middle School Mosaic Award winners and their parents. She also attended Corley Elementary’s Career Day and answered lots of questions about being a writer—many of those questions were about how much money she made writing and which famous writers were her friends. The children were disappointed that she didn’t personally know J.K. Rowling.'
| One of the best things about Maureen (along with being an author and many other good things) is that she was a grandchild of Edward R. Byrnes and Pauline Elizabeth Schrot Byrnes, and spent some quality time as a child in Byrnesville. She was also in Byrnesville in the summer of 2005 with her husband Wesley and daughter Cynthia.
