About Byrnesville
This site is about Byrnesville and Susquehanna Township, and about Barnesboro and Spangler in Cambria County, PennsylvaniaThomas Wolfe said that you can't go home again and I reluctantly agree. You can't go home again but you can have a great time remembering and thinking about and maybe writing about the place you call home.
I have a strong place in my heart for Byrnesville. Byrnesville was a wonderful, almost magic place for me at a very good time of my life.
In Byrnesville I was surrounded by the caring and love of my grandparents, the best uncles in the world, the woods, fields, hills, the creeks, the strip mine ponds, the seemingly millions of places to explore and things to do, and it seemed everyone in the community knew everyone else. |

| I lived in Barnesboro until 1956 and after that I visited for a couple of weeks most summers. I considered those weeks golden in Byrnesville. I've written before that when our family moved from Pennsylvania to Michigan I felt as if I was pulled from my roots, the feeling never goes away. So, I have this strong interest in the whole area of Cambria County, Susquehanna Township, Barnesboro, Spangler, and Byrnesville.
My genealogical searching reminds me of my time in Pennsylvania or it stirs my imagination of the generations before me. In this way I have an appreciation of and an interest in the history of the area. It is great fun for me to write about this place called Byrnesville. Different bits and pieces of information trigger my memory and take me to a time and place where I was at peace with the world. If you have any stories related (even remotely) to Byrnesville, Barnesboro, Spangler, Cambria County, or Pennsylvania, and you want to share them, send me a note. Thanks for reading.
